Snow Globe Update: You Are Now Safe To Fly the Friendly Skies

The TSA warns passengers about snow globes containing Christmas trees.

Last November, the TSA announced that travelers would no longer be allowed to carry snow globes on airplanes.

Siouxsie blogged about the ban at this link.  The sign pictured above is part of the TSA’s on-going efforts to deal with the snow globe danger.

Let’s hope that all of the effort and money spent on enforcing the snow globe ban is just the tip of the iceberg, and that TSA is directing the majority of its resources to other more serious threats.

The photograph of the TSA’s snow globe  warning, by the way, was taken by Patrick Smith, author of the website  His article on the ban can be found at this link.  Coincidently, Mr. Smith is not only a blogger and pilot, but also the author of  “self-published punk rock fanzines and poetry journals of the 1980s and 1990s [that] are considered among the more curious works of literature ever produced by a resident of Revere, Massachusetts.”  Keep on rockin’ Captain.  Over.

In other airport safety news, it looks like the TSA was less than honest with the public when it claimed that whole-body scanners could not store or record naked images.   Just this week, a federal agency admitted that they have been secretly storing tens-of-thousands of naked pics on the scanners.

Happy travels everybody!
