Monthly Homework Assignment: Comfort and Joy
As requested by Le Professeur Gothique, my top three comfort and joys:
1. Baking/cooking: I like to bake but I don’t like to follow recipes. Baking is a science; for me, it is more fun to change it up and see what happens.
Sometimes I make spooky food, like this coffin tiramisu cake. But tonight, I made petite chocolate chip cookies. The recipe is from The Gourmet Cookbook, edited by Ruth Reichl, the former restaurant critic for the New York Times. Her book, Garlic and Saphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise details the lengths she went to in order to maintain her anonymity as a restaurant critic. I can respect that.
2. Drinking espresso/coffee — I will admit it; I am a coffee snob and addict.
3. Eating cookies — This is what Gourmet’s tiny chocolate chip cookies look like, if you follow the recipe and have the results professionally photographed. Mine didn’t look exactly like this, but they tasted good.
Love your apron and your mug! Are you a lawyer?! That’s my career aspiration! A darkly inclined lawyer — me likes. Love your baking ❤
Aww, thanks! Yes, I’m a lawyer; it is a good occupation for the darkly inclined.
HUZZAH for chocolate chip cookies, coffee and Holly Hobby! I loved Holly Hobby when I was a kid. 🙂
Thanks for participating!
Okay, I just finished declaring on my blogs that I’m not into skulls, yet when I saw that apron I let out a little squee. That’s the cutiest skull ever. So, when you say your “favorite skull apron” does that mean you have a collection?
Thanks. And yes, it might mean that.
