The Old Gray Lady approves of black nail polish

It is official.  The Old Gray Lady endorses black nail polish.  And not just any black, ten different shades of black.  The New York Times reports that indie nail polish company Strange Beautiful is launching the Dickensian Volume — a set of 10 deceivingly dark and metallic shades.

I can’t figure out where to buy this on the internet; otherwise, I would link to it. But it is probably for the best as I am trying to stop buying everything I blog about.  So for now I will stick to my current favorite black nail polish.

  1. found ’em. $85 for the set.

    • Thank you so much for the link. It seems like I have to buy them now after all this. And thanks reading; I’ll be sure to send you out a Siouxsie Law bumper sticker if I ever make some!

  2. drooooooooooling…… I am on a quest now. *shakes fist in air*

  3. Gradations of black makeup seem to be having a bit of a moment in high fashion right now. I’ve seen a few articles on black eyeshadow and eyeliner in mainstream fashion mags recently. It’s good to see black nail polish is getting similar attention.

  4. It looks to me like it may be a store exclusive, but the bottles and packaging look an awful lot like a few other brands out there–it could be a private label company and therefore not original shades. I can’t tell for sure without getting my hands on them though.

Private label or not, they look AMAZING. If I can hunt them down, they could definitely find a place in my collection.

  6. They’re beautiful shades and I’d love to have them if someone gave them to me for a gift, but it’s outrageous to spend $85 on nail polish! To each their own. I wish I could buy just 2 or 3 of them instead of the whole volume.

  7. I always use some nail polish to style my finger nails. .
