Gray Day

Sophistique Noir’s theme for March is gray.

I don’t wear a lot of gray dresses but I do own a surprising number of gray accessories.  And I just painted my kitchen gray!

Here is a recent gray outfit — “You’d be surprised how much it costs to look this cheap!” ~ Dolly Parton

I love my herringbone gray spats.

And these gray tights.

And my favorite gray book (at the moment).

Book:  Love Goes to Buildings on Fire

Shoes:  Very old Fluevogs

Spats:  Ashes and Empires

Tights:  Target

Dress:  Eileen Fisher

Gray Shirt:  Target

Gray arm warmers:   I don’t have  a clue

Bonus Song: Sisters of Mercy cover of Dolly Parton’s Jolene.  I really like this cover.  Fun fact — Andrew Eldritch and company started playing it as way to mock and confound their audience.

  1. Great song, great shoes. 🙂

  2. You look grayt. How is that book?

  3. oh i like that song!! and your photos look so different – i like!

  4. Omg, I haven’t heard that song in years (like, since I owned a record player — I had it on some ancient bootleg vinyl in college ;-). Great tune. And, of course, great outfit!

  5. Excellent! You explored the theme from just about every possible point of view. 🙂 Those shoes are THE BEST, and I’m totally with you on the tights.

I didn’t realize until I went to put my gray outfit together that I don’t own a single pair of gray arm warmers. 😦 This makes me sad.

  6. Thank you so much for your lovely comment on my post :). It’s always amusing and interesting to read your blog, you have always something important or fun to say. Thanks for the song! I saw the Sisters on a concert in november last year, it was awesome! The spats and armwarmers are great!!

  7. Will you send the spats to me if I give you my address??? 😉 I’m in love with them!

  8. I love the shoes! Too bad they never have any cool shoes in my size (43, that would be US11?). I’d buy these right away!

  9. Ooh, the spats/tights combo here is simply to die for! Love, love love!

  10. Love how cozy those tights look! And the ‘vogs! Love! Thanks for the trip down memory lane with the music. When I adopted my cat, she came with the name Jolene. Funny.

  11. I had no idea this cover existed, nice pull.

  12. I have to admit, I was pretty confused when I heard that cover the first time. That doesn’t make it any less fabulous, though.

Perfect grey outfit. Perfect way to dress up perfect shoes. I firmly intend to invest in a pair of Fluevogs as soon as I can ditch the starving student lifestyle.
