Fixodent — and Get Zinc Poisoning Class Action

ABC News is reporting on a class action lawsuit against Proctor and Gamble over zinc in Fixodent.  About five years ago, a study of four denture users with neurological problems concluded that zinc in their denture cream likely caused their symptoms.  A doctor who reviewed the study would not approve its publication for several years.  At the same time, this reviewing doctor was being paid as a consultant to Proctor and Gamble.  And the doctor sent an unauthorized copy of the study to Proctor and Gamble telling them to be discrete about their use of it.

This doctor’s actions kept the rest of the medical community and the public at large from learning about the denture cream study.  It looks like Proctor and Gamble is going to get stuck with some liability over their zinc-filled dental adhesive.
